Safety

Tree Climbing is safe. Climbing is done while you are suspended from a rope; as long as the rope is looped over a sturdy branch, and the knots are tied correctly, it is impossible to fall.

Previous to any event our instructors will inspect the trees that are going to be climbed and make sure that the trees are safe to climb.

We will make sure that all the ropes are looped over branches and that all the knots are tied corectly. We will show you how the climbing system works, how to tie a safety knot, and how to descend safely.

There is always one or two instructors up in the tree ready to help you in case you get stuck or to offer you assistence if you need it. Upon descent you are again supervised by an instructor who will make sure that you coming down in a safe manner.

We use the safest rope and harness tree climbing system currently known in the tree climbing world. The system is a modification from the traditional arborist way of climbing, it was developed in the USA by Tree Climbers International (TCI). Peter Jenkins founded TCI and indeed recreational tree climbing in 1983. TCI is now regarded all over the world as the standard bearer of recreational tree climbing. Since TCI’s founding and with more than 50 000 climbs worldwide, no TCI supervised recreational tree climber has ever been seriously injured.
