Rol and guests climbing a huge treeRol is now back from Turkey after his trip away, he has met up with a contact from the Aljazeera TV network who has expressed real interest in an expedition that we are planning later in the year. We are at the preliminary stage but the concept of the expedition is that we attempt to climb the tallest and most magnificent trees in a selection of European countries.
We will be filming the expedition and through the contact that Rol has made the expedition will be reported on the Aljazeera TV network.
As part of each trip Rol and Jez will be giving back to each country that they visit, giving the local community in particular disadvantaged children a once in a lifetime tree climbing experience ( Inner city children of Istanbul) whilst actively raising money for their chosen charities .
As a warm up we are due to be climbing the tallest Broad leaf trees in Northern Europe (South of England), a set of 3 London Plane's the centre tree reaching a staggering 160ft. ( photo Rol and guests 2009 )

Rol and treefrog's youngest member Max have visited England's Tallest Tree today a 197ft Douglas Fir in Dunster Forest.
Andy Player the Countryside Manager walked them around the 600m long Tall Tree Trail and explained what's been going on in the forest.
The idea is that on June the 21st 2011 Rol and Jez are going to attempt to climb the tallest trees in Scotland - (63.79m (209ft) the Stronardon Douglas), Wales  (Douglas Fir 62.5m (205ft), and England's Douglas Fir 60m (197ft). In just 24 hours!! (pending permission from Scotland and Wales)
Its a bit like the 3 peaks challenge but instead of Mountains we are climbing trees.

We will also be raising money for our charities and hopefully making more people aware of these amazing trees.  Andy is trying to raise awareness and open up this fantastic forest site which is only a stones throw away from the National Trust property of Dunster Castle.

The Dunster estate is approximately 9900 acres and the woodland and forest areas make up 3526 acres. The area in question was planted in the 1870's as a collection of exotic trees.
If you fancy a visit To Dunster Forest to see the Trees for yourself be sure to check out there other champion tree, a Magnolia measuring in at a whopping 24m (79ft) and some lovely Tulip trees along the way. Well worth a day out for all the family and the Tall Trees Walk is also wheelchair friendly.
Keep an eye on our news flash to monitor our progress with the other trees!
